The North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund

Hurricane Matthew hit North Carolina on October 8th, 2016. Seventeen counties in the state experienced record rainfall. 3,744 people moved to shelters, over 800,000 power outages were reported, 635 roads closed, 82,000 families applied for FEMA assistance, 100,000 homes were damaged, of which, over 4,000 were completely destroyed. All told, Hurricane Matthew caused an estimated $4.8 Billion in damages.

Today, some North Carolina families are still struggling to get back home and recover from the floods. The North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund is committed to supporting the critical work volunteer non-profit organizations are doing now to rebuild damaged homes, recover from the disaster, and get families back home.
