HOPE Program Applicant Pre-Screening Tool Indicates required field This screening tool is designed to help applicants determine their initial eligibility for the HOPE Program. As you answer questions using the screening tool, additional questions will appear depending on whether your answers indicate that you may be eligible for assistance through the program. Meeting the requirements listed in this screening tool does not guarantee that you are eligible for assistance through the program. New HOPE Applicants: The online application on the HOPE website is for new applicants to the program only. If the pre-screening tool indicates that you are eligible and a new applicant for the HOPE Program, then you must continue to complete the online application. Returning HOPE Applicants: If you applied to the HOPE Program or received assistance from the HOPE Program in the past, please use the Self-Service Applicant Portal to reapply. Do you rent your place of residence? - Select -YesNo Have you missed or been late on a rent payment(s) since April 1, 2020, or been faced with homelessness or possible eviction? - Select -YesNo Have you lost income or been unemployed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, or experienced significant costs or financial hardship from the pandemic? - Select -YesNo Do you live in one of the 88 North Carolina counties that the HOPE Program serves? - Select -YesNo Find Your County Status: Check the NC HOPE Interactive Map to confirm whether you live in one of the 88 counties served by the program. Tribal Members: Registered members of the Coharie Tribe, Eastern Band of the Cherokee Nation, Haliwa-Saponi Tribe, Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina or Waccamaw-Siouan Tribe, should apply to their tribal government’s rent and utility assistance program instead of the HOPE Program. Tribal program information is also available on the NC HOPE Interactive Map. Your responses to the pre-screening questions indicate that you may be eligible for the HOPE Program.
